Review- Bhoot Bangla
When makers of Bhool Bhulaiya 1 attempt the genre again, it is hard to not cave into that temptation.
Dinesh Vijan has raised the bar of this genre to unattainable heights.
There ain’t a single angle that Bhoot Bangla touches which we have not seen explored with decent depth in the Maddock universe. Well-written, decent plot moves came out as extremely predictable because Dinesh Vijan has shown us everything.
The right comparison here is DC vs Marvel between 2012–2020. Almost nothing DC did worked because the adjacent universe got so strong and compounded in itself.
The OG Comedy Squad
Directed by Priyadarshan
- Akshay Kumar
- Akshay Kumar + Asrani
- Akshay Kumar + Asrani + Paresh Rawal
- Akshay Kumar + Asrani + Paresh Rawal + Rajpal Yadav
And the magic was there.
Scenes where the unassuming Priyadarshan’s chaos * confusion that creates comedy takes you back two decades—to the golden days when we were served this combination, hot and frequent.
Bhool Bhulaiya
Even with the spectacular universe that Dinesh Vijan is creating, even with a couple of star-studded attempts from the Bhool Bhulaiya franchise itself and Golmaal 4, Bhool Bhulaiya still remains the winner by a margin in this genre.
Bhool Bhulaiya has characters of Priyadarshan transported into a tense, fear-filled world, with a psychiatrist putting all of it together. Nothing till date crosses it.
